Chandler 85249 market hitting bottom

Posted On: July 27th, 2016 9:36PM

The 85249 zip code market seems to be approaching a bottom. The number of contracts executed fell to 67, the lowest levels since January. Sales are also trending downward, sliding to 109 homes sold over the last 30 days. When comparing other close-by zip codes within the same period, the most came from the 85242 zip code with 123 contracts executed. The median sales price rose to $364,900, up from last week's $362,250. Despite the falling contracts numbers, there are only three months of inventory remaining, indicating that the 85249 zip code is a still seller's market.

New Streak in Home Prices for 85249 Zip Code Real Estate Market

Posted On: July 13th, 2016 2:25PM

The 85249 zip code market pulled back this week but was still better than normal as sales dropped 4.2% to 114 homes sold over the last 30 days. Meanwhile, the 85242 zip code reported 167 home sales, the highest number from all the surrounding zip codes. The median sales price continued to rise, trending upwards for eight weeks to reach $385,000. In spite of the decrease in sales, a low three months of inventory signals that the 85249 zip code is a seller's market.

Beyond the scale: 4 tips to eat smarter

Posted On: July 12th, 2016 7:04PM

Focus on foods that give you the most nutritional payoff. Here are a few tasty suggestions:

1. Fill at least half your plate with produce. Go for color and variety, from juicy berries to sweet potatoes to leafy greens.

2. Make at least half your grains whole. Order sandwiches with whole-wheat bread. Switch to brown or wild rice and whole-grain pastas. Fill your cereal bowl with whole grains too.

3. Keep proteins lean. Good choices include skinless poultry, seafood, lean meats, beans and low-fat dairy foods.

4. Be fussy about fats. Replace solid fats with healthy options, such as olive, canola and peanut oils.

Goal of Owning Home Still Strong Amongst Homeowners

Posted On: July 8th, 2016 2:03PM

Americans still want to own homes — if they can afford to. That's the finding of a report released by the Harvard University Joint Center for Housing Studies.

The pressures of student debt, rising rents and the leftover wreckage from the nearly decade-old housing bust have restrained people's ability to buy, even though the dream remains alive. The report sees reasons for both optimism (more millennials are poised to leave the nest) and concern (rising numbers of renters face extreme costs).

Those factors could determine whether the share of Americans who are renting keeps rising or whether the nation's homeownership rate can rebound from a near 48-year low of 63.5 percent.

Beyond the scale: 4 tips to get regular exercise

Posted On: July 7th, 2016 1:39PM

Here's what experts advise: Most adults should aim for at least 2.5 hours of moderate-intensity aerobic activity a week. Add strength exercises on two or more days a week.*

That may seem like a lot if you aren't getting regular exercise now. But don't let that discourage you. These steps can help inspire you — and make being active more doable:

1. Fit your fitness to you. Think about your personality. For example, if you're competitive, how about a team sport? Love the outdoors? Walks in the park or hikes in the hills may motivate you.

2. Try something new. Explore your options — you may find something that keeps you coming back for more. Maybe that will be rock climbing, belly dancing, yoga or karate.

3. Divide and conquer. No time for a 30-minute workout? Squeeze in three 10-minute mini workouts instead. This is a good way to gradually build up your stamina and strength too.

4. Pair up. With a good buddy at your side, you'll be less likely to bail on exercise.
