VICTORY AT VERRADO OVERVIEW

The newest active adult community designed for baby boomers will be opening soon in the southwest part of the Valley of the Sun.  At the base of the White Tank Mountains lies the DMB community of Verrado.  They plan to have their new 1200 acre age-restricted community up and running by fall of 2014.  The concept is designed to appeal to upscale baby boomers who want to redefine their retirements rather than choose the retirement their parents had.   Most baby boomers are looking for hiking, walking and exercise amenities as well as activities such as wine tasting clubs rather than traditional over 55 activities such as golf.

One of the differences will be that Victory will be a part of a much bigger all-ages community called Verrado.  They will also offer homes by multiple builders.  They are currently building the community center and will offer about 400 already completed homes for sale in the fall of 2014.  Prices are expected to start in the high $200’s.

Many of the people in these active adult communities want to continue to work full time or part time for a while and so the homes they choose are equally important to the amenities these communities offer.  Many buyers are looking for luxurious finishes, open-concept floor plans, office space and outdoor spaces designed for entertaining.  The newer communities such as Victory are trying to provide a higher quality of life for a longer period of time.  An intimate atmosphere with a higher-end or country club atmosphere is what research shows is most appealing to the newest generation of retirees.
