Heather Smith, ABR, CNS, SFRS, REALTOR® is a third-generation contract-writer and REALTOR® who combines her love for the industry with her strong passion for education and helping others.
Before getting into the real estate business in 2006, Heather previously taught at a private school in Layton as well as worked in home design for many years. One of her favorite design claims to fame is winning the kitchen design award in the Utah Valley Parade of Homes. Heather is a Utah State University Aggie with a degree in Human Resource Management and minor in Communications. Both areas come in handy with agents, transactions and hosting crazy fun events.
In the 1995, after experiencing a seizure, Heather was found to have a brain tumor and went into battle with cancer. After 2 brain surgeries (and the many prayers and generous help of many friends), she is grateful and excited to say she is still cancer free! Since then, she has spoken at women’s retreats and been called on by Huntsman Cancer Center and many cancer groups to help others fighting through similar experiences to win the day. Because of this life event, she has served and supported HopeKids and their families for 8 years and serves now on the Board of Trustees for UHope to continue helping families with children fighting serious illnesses.
As an active Realtor® and brokerage manager for HomeSmart Advantage Realty, Heather leads her agents and representing buyers and sellers on a day-to-day basis. She considers education – both of clients and agents – an important part of her role as a Realtor® and mentor. Heather teaches real estate technology, building your business, customer service and client retention. She has been the guest speaker on webinars, taught in multiple states, and trained as a productivity coach. Her assistant and dog-loving partner, Denise Whitney (also a Realtor) keeps her organized and charging forward.
Heather is active with NWAOR and her community. A planner and go-getter for the real estate industry, Heather was chosen to be co-chair and then chair for NWAOR’s PR Committee and then for the Military Task Force. She was also appointed to and served 2 years the Utah Real Estate Grievance Committee. In addition, she has earned and put to good use the designations of Certified Negotiation Specialist, Accredited Buyer Representative, and Short Sale & Foreclosure Resource Specialist. She recently was asked to be the 2018 Women’s Council of Realtors Program Chair for Northern Utah and is working toward her Utah State Broker Licensing. Heather is also co-founder of the Utah Heroes Program, which serves the special real estate and education needs of our Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters, First Responders and U.S. Servicemen and -women here and away from their families. She and her team are directly involved with hosting the Northern Utah Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Conferences.
A lover of all things Marvel, Chocolate, and Rocky Mountains, Heather lives in Riverdale, Utah, with her husband James, their sons Cody and Colton (who just got engaged), and a cat who wishes to remain anonymous. She gets crazy excited over Super Hero movies and Comic-Con and will tell you all about meeting Captain America and Bucky if you ask.
