I was raised by parents who owned and managed apartments so, when the opportunity arose to invest in a rental property I was comfortable with the decision. As with all of us, life gets busy and in 2013 my son was graduating from High School, so no more football games, wrestling matches, or track tournaments. So, I picked up the local college brochure to search for something to keep me busy and out of trouble hehe. I had been working for the government for over 25 years and had another 5 years until retirement. I came across a class in real estate. The light bulb went off! I have rental property, this will help me learn more about property sales and management. After finishing the class, all my friends starting asking, “When are you getting your license?” I didn’t know how to answer them because, I wasn’t thinking of a second career; not yet.
In 2014, I obtained my Real Estate license. Even though real estate is not directly related to IT, it is however project management related. After all, the three important aspects of project management are Budget, Quality, and Time and Real Estate has the same critical aspects.
I retired May 2019 after spending most of my adult life as an IT Program Manager. I am now pursuing another passion; Real Estate.
