Glade Park Information Sheet

GLADE PARK INFORMATION

Please keep in mind this information is not concrete and may change occasionally. It is just based on information and experiences we have had when dealing with GP real estate transactions. We just wanted to provide some contacts and information you may find helpful if you are new to the Glade Park, Little Park or Pinon Mesa areas.

Propane: Amerigas: (970) 245-5511, Fruita Coop- 970-858-3667 or Pro Gas- 970-858-1001 They will usually send you a post card in spring/summer months in order to pre-buy propane for next year at the summer rate versus winter. They will not fill in summer months unless needed. They typically fill once a month during fall/winter months starting in September. Most tanks are leased with the provider but you can purchase and own a tank and shop propane costs with any provider if you want.

(If you lock your gate please keep in mind these service providers **- They will enter if it is shut and not

locked, unless you don’t want them to.)

Grand Valley Rural Power for Electric:970-242-0040

Internet:

Internet Service: Optimus Internet is the newest internet service provider on Glade Park, people using it have said they are happy with it. Centurylink and Hughes Net are choices as well.

Cell Phone provider:Verizon is the most reliable service on the park.

Trash: Glade Park Disposal service- Call and set up service.970-256-7962 They typically pick up at the end of the driveway. PLEASE SECURE LIDS ON TRASH CANS BECAUSE OF CROWS AND OTHER CRITTERS

Septic: Goodwin Septic-970-243-2783 provides service up here. Tank lid will need to be exposed or they will charge extra for that service. Pump is typically, $350-$500 depending on access, tank size and location.

Water-Well / Cistern maintinance:Jim Logue with Rocky Mountain Drilling and pump- 970-434-8554 or Brad Himes with Artesian Services Inc. -970-245-2275

Glade Park Store: 970-242-5421 (Teresa) The hours vary, usually carries the basics. Don’t count on her for

gasoline if you need it, because she doesn’t always have it or may not carry it at all anymore.

FED EX AND UPS: They will deliver right to the door as long as they can get in gates and roads are cleared. Otherwise, they have been known to leave at the store or hanging on your gate. I have seen people leave totes or secured boxes at their gates for deliveries from these companies.

HOA: Keep in mind you may have an HOA for road maintenance, common area etc. Please be sure and  contact them so they have your current contact information. Also, please make sure you are aware of any community/HOA covenants, restrictions they may have.

Glade Park Post office: $20 year donation to the GP community Services. They manage our post office as a non-profit. The $20 year per box is to help offset costs for electric, insurance and over all maintenance of the post office itself. It is not a US post office. It is owned by the community and operated by Lou and his daughter Ruth who are postal contract employees. You can get your mail 24/7/365 as door is always unlocked. If you receive package’s they will notify you with note in your post or a key for picking up larger parcels in secured box within building. Hours are 11:30 (ish) to 4:00(ish). When you are ready for a box, just go in a fill out paper work with Lou or Ruth and pay your donation (it is a tax write off if you care to do that because of it being a non-profit). They may want to see a copy of your deed for verification of ownership. I would recommend paying more than $20 if you are able as there are times when funds are low and the post office is a top priority for the community. $20 covers just the basics IF EVERY PERSON that uses it actually pays.

Glade Park Community Center and Glade Park Volunteer Fire department: They operate on DONATIONS only. I would recommend you donate when you can to Fire department. They are strictly volunteer’s and are first responders for all of Little Park, Glade Park, Pinon Mesa, the Monument and clear to Utah state line. They work very hard for the Park community and have meetings once a week and continuous first responder training. They do NOT receive any State or Federal funding. They are always happy to have more volunteers! Fire Department has movies all summer every Friday night (June- Labor day) on the back of the fire house. They make their money from concessions. The movie is free and family friendly. We enjoyed going on Friday night just to eat a burger, visit neighbors and drop a donation in the fireman’s boot at entrance. You don’t have to stay for the movie but if you do, bring a chair and a jacket or blanket along. There are several events that the community center puts on throughout the year for fundraising. Pancake breakfast and Glade Park clean-up day is early May, Cowboy poetry festival, Chili cook off in the fall and a pasta dinner in February. They are a great way for you to meet folks and support the community. Community center also sends out a newsletter every quarter, you can sign up to receive it via email. Also, there are social media and web pages you can keep in touch with happenings on as well as bulletin boards at the post office.

Web/Social Media: Glade-Park.com is website Glade Park Community Facebook page and the Glade Park Past and Present Facebook page.

Code of the West: Colorado is a fence out state. There are occasional times when livestock wander or get out. Keeps gates closed or yard secured if you don’t want them in your yard. Keep dogs contained, they cannot be allowed to chase livestock or wildlife. Ranchers and/or the DOW may take matters in to their own hands if needed. In general, it is just good idea just to keep them protected from wildlife for their own safety.

Yep- it is Western Colorado! There are wild animals! Bobcats, coyotes, mountain lions, bears, deer and elk just to name a few.
