Funding from Sponsorships, Golf Tickets to Assist Agents Experiencing Financial Hardship
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – On Tuesday, Nov. 4, real estate brokerage HomeSmart raised over $20,000 during its HomeSmart Helps “Agents Helping Agents” Golf Event attended by Valley golf enthusiasts, sponsors and real estate professionals. Hosted at McCormick Ranch Golf Club in Scottsdale, the event generated donations for HomeSmart Helps, the brokerage’s charitable arm and agent assistance fund founded in 2007.
“Supporting the community is central to HomeSmart’s mission, and to be able to provide agents with critical aid — without question or judgement — reinforces our commitment to our agents to be there for them whenever, wherever we are needed,” said Steve Robbins, Tournament Event Director and REALTOR® at HomeSmart.
Funding provided by HomeSmart Helps is unrestricted and can be requested for a variety of causes and situations, from paying utility and medical bills to covering costs associated with funerals. Outside of its function as a safety net for HomeSmart agents, the group also facilitates volunteer opportunities for charitable efforts benefiting like-minded organizations within the communities HomeSmart operates. Aid from HomeSmart Helps is available to all 25,000 agents across more than 250 offices in the United States.
“We created HomeSmart Helps in recognition of the fact that agents are independent contractors and lack the same coverage benefits that traditional employees typically have access to,” said Matt Widdows, CEO and founder of HomeSmart. “Our fund is flexible and exists as that much-needed resource and safety net for when a crisis happens. Thanks to those who came to golf with us on Nov. 4, we can continue to support our valued agent family both here in Arizona and nationwide.”
Businesses and groups who sponsored the “Agents Helping Agents” event included Total Inspections, Customer’s Bank, One Digital Insurance, First American Home Warranty, Enviroclean, Lower Mortgage, Skarphol & Associates, Inc., American Home Shield, Muscular Moving Men, BlueInk Title Agency, the Panozzo Team and Equitable Title Agency. Individual sponsors for the event were Carol Perry, Jeanie Fraley, Angela Covey and Jody Mead.
