Cave Creek Sports Bars

Posted On: November 8th, 2017 11:20PM

Outlaws' rooftop bar

Here in Cave Creek, there are no shortage of places to watch your favorite sports team. Up in the town center we have Harolds, known Valleywide as a "Steelers' Bar", if you are not a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, its best to avoid this venue on Sunday and other game days, as it is mayhem. The Buffalo Chip next door calls itself a Packers Bar, and across the street at the Roadhouse is the place to root on the Chicago Bears.

All these bars have an abundance of televsions to watch, game day specials and fine food and service.

South of Carefree Highway, Gallaghers', Brisams', The Creek Grill and Tailgaters are the main options. Gallaghers and Tailgaters are HUGE, with plenty of seating so finding a seat is rarely difficult. Brisams and Cave Creek Grill have less seats and televisions, so come early depending on the game. All of the establishments offer delicious food, Try the Philly Sub at Tailgaters, the Veal Meatball sliders at the Creek Grill, Fish Tacos at Brisams. The burgers at Gallaghers do not disappoint. Go Team!

Just closed on your home? THIS SHOULD BE YOUR FIRST UPGRADE..

Posted On: October 17th, 2017 8:47PM

You've just closed on your new home. You and you family have just moved in, are over the moon and excited to make the house 'your home.'  You've got a budget and a whole list of upgrades and things that you'd like to do to the property, including bathroom and kitchen upgrades, a possible room addition, and a side door on the garage. But where to start?

The first place to start on upgrading a home after the close of escrow is the curb. Curb appeal is VERY MUCH like the first impression in a job interview. If an interviewer or buyer does not get the "warm, fuzzy feeling" from the outset, things are not likely to go well.  Even if you feel the home has fine curb appeal, you can always make it better. Landscaping is one of the simplest and least expensive upgrades one can do for a home, is often a diy job, and unlike kitchen or bathroom upgrades,  the homeowner can and will reap benefits for decades after.

Start with trees. In addition to creating atmoshere and beauty, attracting wildlife, creating privacy and cleaning the air, trees create shade and shelter that can save the homeowner thousands of dollars in energy costs over the term of a homeloan. Trees do take time to grow and mature, which is why it should be the first upgrade or addition to your new home. Pick a location far enough from the homes foundation so that roots will not be an issue. It is a fantastic way to shield your swimming pool from the neighbors upstairs window, or from the brutal western exposure of the Arizona setting sun.

Once you have your trees in place, you can work on your homes curb appeal gradually, adding shrubs, landscape boulders, etc, to make your home the most attractive on the block. Don't overdo it though, and be sure to abide by any hoa restrictions in your neighborhood, or you will be sreating extra work for yourself.

That shade tree sapling that cost you $50 to plant today, could very well sell your home when the kids graduate!

Large drill rig at 49th St. & Cave Creek Road

Posted On: September 26th, 2017 5:27PM

Many may have wondered what the purpose of the 60 ft. high drill rig with the American flag peched atop at 49th St. and Ashler Hills, off Cave Creek Road.

The City of Phoenix has contracted for MGC Contractors to drill a new well on an an existing well site.  It is a known as an aquifer recovery well, (ASR) which is designed to be be dual purpose in that it allows the City of Phoenix to either recharge in times of excess, or pump stored water as needed. It is replaceing and ols and unused well on the site.

Drilling a well is a continuous process, necessitating two 12-hour shifts, seven days per week. Temporary 16 foot high sound abatement walls have been installed around the perimeter of the well site during the drilling process in an effort to minimize neighborhood disturbances. The well site is within a stones throw of several  homes in the Colina Del Norte neighborhood.

While there exists uncertainty in underground geologic conditions and other factors make project duration estimation difficult, five to six months of drilling and well construction have been estimated.
