Quality butcher shops are increasingly rare, and seem to be part of a bygone era. Dove Valley Ranch and Cave Creek are bucking that trend with the imminent opening of Lil' Miss Butcher. As the name would suggest, this is a female-owned business operated by a lady butcher. Located next to Rays Pizza, the shop will be specializing in prime grade, mid-western beef as well as a selection of wild game. They plan to be open in the coming weeks, so drop in and welcome them to the neighborhood!

It was discouraging to see Q to U Barbecue next to Ray’s Pizza close as a victim of the Covid-19 pandemic

A worthy establishment has taken its place, however, in Phat Turtle BBQ, located at Cave Creek and Desert Willow near Barro’s Pizza.

Owned and operated by a Kansas City couple who live in Tatum Ranch, the restaurant and bar has been opened for close to a year and has been garnering rave reviews from the locals.

Occupying a space that has housed Brothers’ Pizza and at least one breakfast restaurant, Phat Turtle has a typically casual barbecue atmosphere, with an attached barbecue goods shop with sauces, rubs, pellets, grills, etc. and a smaller bar with about a half dozen stools.

 Plans reportedly are to expand into the attached empty unit to the south, creating a full-sized saloon for the restaurant.

Phat Turtle features live music on Friday nights at happy hour/early evening, have online trivia and poker, as well as Golden Tee and Deer Hunter, two popular video games.

Food naturally is the star of the show so choose from slowly hardwood smoked ribs, chicken, brisket, or smoked sausage, and make sure to save room for the sides!

Abrazo Cave Creek Hospital, billed as a ‘neighborhood hospital’ is preparing to serve the community. Smaller than an acute care facility, but differing from an urgent care center in that the facility will have an emergency room, an operating and recovery room, as well as eight inpatient beds for overnight stays

The hospital will accommodate patients suffering from conditions such as acute abdominal pain, sprained and broken bones, heart attacks, flu and pneumonia, seizures, minor trauma, bladder infections, and lacerations. The facility will have a dedicated lab, imaging, surgical and pharmacy services.

This is the third such hospital for Abrazo in the Valley,

                       Big - O Tires opening store at Carefree Hwy & 53^rd Street

Big O Tires is starting construction on their newest Valley location in the Sprouts Center on Carefree Highway. Big-O Tires is one of North America's largest retail tire franchisors, with more than 450 independently owned and operated locations extending through 23 states primarily in the west and mid-west. It is headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Big-O has over twenty stores in the Phoenix area and is a major local competitor to Scottsdale-based giant Discount Tire, which the largest independent tire and wheel retailer in the world.

The vacant parcel of land located at the southwest corner of Cave Creek and Westland Roads has been scraped of vegetation in preparation for sale and development.

The 1.7-acre parcel is directly across Westland road from the nursery and was the subject of controversy some years ago when prospective buyers were seeking approval for a dance academy to be built there.

The land, which is for sale at 1 million per acre, will need to be rezoned commercial from desert rural residential before any development commences.

The owner of this parcel also sold the land where the new Abrazzo hospital is located on Carefree Highway and 53^rd Street.
