With many of our homes in Dove Valley Ranch turning twenty years old this year, and most of the rest not too far behind, many homeowners in the neighborhood are remodeling or considering updating their homes. Here is what is big for 2020:
First as always, is investing in the curb-appeal of your home (landscaping, lighting, paint, etc..). This will always be the most rewarding upgrade in terms of sale price and time it takes to sell your property. Curb appeal also includes the backyard.
That said, there are new trends on the horizon in 2020 when in come to interior upgrades to kitchens, bathrooms and color palettes.
While certain features in a kitchen—like statement lighting, cabinet hardware, and even range hoods are taking center stage, many are getting muted or hidden.
This hidden design in kitchens is taking many forms, from more discreet appliances to high-tech voice assistants hidden within. Faucets may have motion-based or other hands-free technology, kitchen islands could have hidden charging stations, pet stations might be tucked into barely noticed areas, and kitchen cabinetry styles can seek to blend in more than stand out, designers recently told Forbes.com.
Soft-close drawers for cabinetry is trending along with many organizational solutions for inside cabinetry include pull-outs, drawer inserts, and lighting inside. Lighting inside cabinetry is a particularly growing trend.
As for bathrooms, grays, mixed metals (meaning fixtures with mis-matched finishes), and farmhouse styles are some of the most popular trends. More homeowners are upgrading their master bathrooms with special features when they remodel.
The most popular premium features are dual showers, one-piece toilets, vessel sinks, and built-in vanities. Other upgrades might include installing accessibility features like seats, low curbs, grab bars, and non-slide floors in showers and bathtubs.
When it comes to paint colors, rhe trend the last few years for common areas and bedrooms has been bolder colors, as opposed to neutral. Behr’s 2019 color of the year was Blueprint, a darker blue and for 2020 is Back to Nature, an olive-type color.

A Maricopa County DUI Enforcement van parked at the District 4 Substation in Cave Creek on Thursday, December 26th has fueled speculation that there could be a dui checkpoint expected in the area over this last December weekend and/or New Year holiday.
While not a frequent occurrence, DUI checkpoints along Cave Creek Road north of Lowes’ Home Store are not unheard of, particularly on busy holidays and weekends.
With the average Arizona DUI incurring an average $10,000 in fines and attorneys’ fees, please consider using Lyft or Uber to and from your holiday celebrations and have a safe and Happy New Year!
